Garden Pics

Hello lovely people!  Thank you for all the recent comments.  It's great to be able to share bits of my life with you all!
The poor garden has been rather neglected lately.  I seem to have been busy doing Other Things and only popping out to pick the flowers and veg each day and pull out the odd weed.  I've made a start chopping back some of the stuff that's finished but it needs some serious work now before the bindweed  and chickweed take over.  Guess that's my next project for a while!
The dahlias and gladi's are cheering the place up.

The sage plant is taking over the path.  That will have to come out!

Leeks growing well next to some beetroot and chard that struggled to get going.

Brassicas netted to keep the pigeons off.  Beans in the background finally doing well.  I'm a runner bean convert after swearing I would never grow them.  The french beans were useless this year, but we've had runners nearly every day and loved them :)

The "Sweet Lightening" squashes gave up and died off apart from a couple of tiny ones that I left and I noticed today they've each got a little squash that's ready to pick.

Tomatoes in the greenhouse are doing well.  I've been picking some each day and it looks like there'll soon be a bit of a glut. The yellow "Sun Baby" ones are very prolific and "Gardeners Delight" is always reliable.  I'm going to try drying them in our dehydrator this year.

And finally, Lottie doing what she does best.   Sunning herself in the warmest place she can find!

Take care

  1. I love your blog. You are a regular stop for me each day, to see if you've posted something new and to enjoy your garden and your handwork. But today I'm intriqued with the climbing tomatoes. What? I'm new to gardening and have never seen that kind -- off to research for grand possibilites next spring. Thanks for sharing so beautifully.

  2. The dahlias that I grew from seed are now flowering but must say I don't reckon they are pompoms as the packet suggested and most are yellow.

    1. I grew some from seed one year and they were quite pretty but nothing like the big ones from tubers, mostly very short, single and a variety of colours. I guess that's what happens with hybrid seed.

  3. What a wonderful garden you have and I love all the plantations and that little path leading to the garden gate! I can only imagine all the work such a garden gives. These days my garden is a balcony and gives me lots of pleasure!

  7. Your garden is very beautiful! My sister and niece have spent the day with me today, in the garden, weeding and cutting back! I'm so grateful for their help today, it would have taken me weeks to do everything! My French beans have been great but sadly the brassicas have been badly eaten, we did get rid of lots of slugs and snails today though! Ada :)

  11. Oh wow, your garden is looking glorious! Love your Dahlia's. They are one of my favourite flowers at the moment. Lucky you to have such a good harvest too. Mine is poor this year. Only garlic, red peppers & cucumbers.

    Have a lovely evening.

  19. Ohmygosh, just love your garden! I'd love to have something like this myself but it is simply too hot and dry here most of the time. I have to select my plantings very carefully and the last three+ years have been a learning curve in that respect, but I still dream of having a garden full of green and splattered with colour like this one day. :)
With a whippet would be nice, too! (I don't ask for much, really).
