Hello, I hope you're enjoying this lovely sunshine. It's a pity the nights are drawing in, but I'm looking forward to putting the fire on again soon.
Thank you for all your comments about my linen quilt. It's on my bed at the moment and I'm looking very cosy.
Here's a peek of my latest addiction! I decided to try some diamond in the square blocks and loved them so much I got carried away and made enough for a decent size quilt. My design wall comes in very handy and I spent yesterday playing around with the layout until I was happy.
I used the measurements in this book to cut the squares. Very useful if your maths is rusty like me! All the blocks are 6" finished size so it's easy to try out a few and be able to design your own quilt.
Better get on and start sewing them together.
Bye for now.

The simplest blocks often make the most stunning quilts! Yours is looking fantastic, and I love the soft muted peachy pinks, yellows and blues you've used.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to have a design wall!
Enjoy sewing them together!

ReplyDeleteI love how graphic this quilt is. Yet the dainty flowers add a lot of femininity. Lovely!

I LOVE this quilt. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, i'm after a sewing machine as one of my christmas presents. I might have a dabble next year ( at a simple one of course).
ReplyDeleteI love your quilts! I watched a movie back in the 60's called How to Make an American Quilt. It was about a group of women who were making a wedding gift for a young woman. Each woman created a block about her own life - the movie was good but I've always wanted to sit around a table like they did finishing a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt will look beautiful once finished!! I like it against the wall as well :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy evening!

It is so gorgeous. I can knit and crochet, but to be able to quilt is a true gift. And when you are done you have an amazing piece of art. How cool to have a whole wall to work with.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
Meredith

Your quilt is looking wonderful, Debbie. Beautiful colours. I can see how a design wall would be so beneficial, I have to climb on a chair and look down on my designs!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful new quilt! It is looking so inspiring I want to make one using these blocks too :)

Hi, I'm new to your blog and I just love reading it. I am interested in learning to quilt and found the book that you mentioned on this post and would like to know if it is worth it to buy....it is right at $8.00 including shipping.
ReplyDeleteThanks and look forward to seeing some more of your creations!!!
