In the Greenhouse, Again!,

Hello,  not much to report here again.  The heat has made me feel very lazy so I'll share some more pictures from the greenhouse taken this week.
Luckily it's shaded by a tall hedge in the afternoon and I've put some netting over the other side to stop it getting too hot.  With a door at both ends it gets a bit of a breeze too, so the plants are quite happy.

I'm loving the mix of pelargoniums, fuchsias and streptocarpus.  They seem to blend together well and stop it all looking too "samey"

Streptocarpus don't usually have any scent but this one, Sweet Melys has a lovely jasmine/lily of the valley perfume

Last week was our 30th anniversary and we received a cake made by a very talented friend of my sister.  The bouquet of flowers are all handmade from sugar paste.  What patience to create something so beautiful.  I've put them in the book case for safe keeping, but need to find a clear box to store them in.

Bye for now.

  4. Your display is beautiful. I have a few streptocarpus but only as house plants. Do you heat the greenhouse over winter?

    1. I do have a small fan heater that I've used before, or they might re-locate indoors. I'll decide later!

  9. Happy anniversary! The flowers look so beautiful and I don't blame you for preserving them. Your greenhouse contents also looks wonderful. I too have a door either end and this is lovely to get a through draft...however, hubby has once again taken this over with his tools on my lovely white painted staging...hmmm I foresee some nagging tomorrow!! xx

  17. Your greenhouse ist great, much space for such a lovely collection of fuchsias! I can not overwinter them, I've given them to my friend. We had rain this night, but it is so hot - I hate it.

Happy Anniversary to you, that cake was amazing, I had to look twice when you said they were made from sugar paste, I've had a go at doing that and its very hard, your sister's friend is very talented.

  22. Congratulations on your anniversary, the work on your cake is incredible. Your green house looks lovely too. Where do you buy your streptocarpus from? I have been looking for one for a while and they don't seem to be avaliable in our local garden centres.

    1. Hi, I ordered them from Dibleys.com. They specialize in them and have dozens of varieties. They came as little plug plants in the spring and have all grown well. I remember seeing their display at Chelsea one year and wanting them all! xx
